With Children
IN CLAIRE DE PAUW’S APPARTMENT

Panoptès is pleased to launch a series of workshops dedicated to practicing philosophy with children from 8 to 12 years old. They will be held in collaboration with Pamela Severin, artistic director of the Children’s Museum in Brussels and animator in philosophical practices for children.

This educational project, at the crossroad between philosophical practice and art, intends to help children develop critical thinking.

Looking at works of art in a playful context is a way to guide children towards a reflection of philosophical type in which different thinking skills are mobilized (defining, synthesizing, comparing, making hypotheses, etc.). Although history of art is not our focus, we want to encourage sensitivity to art and the development and understanding of an aesthetic vocabulary.

Following the discussion, apprentice philosophers will be invited to produce a work of their own using various techniques such as drawing, collage or painting and they will be encouraged to materialize the collective discussion as well as their own thoughts on the chosen topic.

The first workshop will be held on the 6th of May 2017.
